'Gentle' and 'effective' aren't opposites
The false choice that keeps sensitive skin under-treated.

There's a persistent idea that sensitive skin has to choose between formulas that do nothing and formulas that cause a flare-up. That's a formulation failure, not a law of chemistry.
Buffering — pairing an active ingredient with a soothing one that offsets its irritation potential — is how well-built formulas deliver results without the sting. Look for actives paired with panthenol, centella, or allantoin.
Percentage isn't the only lever, either. A 10% niacinamide in a poorly buffered base can irritate more than a well-buffered 15% — the base matters as much as the headline number.
If a product claims to be both potent and gentle, check the ingredient order and the supporting cast, not just the hero ingredient on the front label.
