Why your serum pills (and it's not the serum)
Pilling is almost always a layering problem, not a formula flaw. Here's how to actually fix it.

Pilling — those little gray rolls of product that appear when you rub in your last step — gets blamed on the serum almost every time. In practice, it's rarely the serum's fault.
Most pilling happens because a product is applied before the one underneath it has finished absorbing, or because too many silicone-heavy formulas are stacked on top of each other and start sliding instead of sinking in.
The fix is almost always patience, not a new product: wait 60–90 seconds between steps, apply thin layers instead of thick ones, and if you're using a physical sunscreen, let it set fully before touching your face with anything else, including your hands.
If pilling persists no matter what you do, it's worth checking whether one product in the stack has a very high silicone content — those tend to be the common denominator, and swapping just that one step usually solves it.
